Bending the Growth Curve of Health-care Spending

Debating Health Care

Scott Serota, BCBSA president and CEO, recently spoke with the Kaiser Family Foundation as part of its Health Care Debate series. Serota discussed ways BCBSA believes health-care costs can be brought down. Serota also discussed a proposal to create a public-private partnership that would identify best medical practices and reward doctors who follow those practices.

BCBS Companies Demonstrate Stewardship of Health-care Dollars

Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association today unveiled its national, aggregate 2007 anti-fraud statistics and discussed preventive techniques to stem the problem of medical identity theft and health-care fraud.

The survey shows that BCBS companies' anti-fraud efforts collectively prevented $134 million from being spent on fraudulent or erroneous medical claims, while recouping nearly $115 million paid on fraudulent claims in 2007.
